Donncha Houlihan, originally from Birdhill, Co Tipperary has always been eager to return home and establish a business of his own. So when an opportunity arose at Greenmount Park, a location which is steeped in local equine history, to set up a modern equine hospital he did not have to think twice. Greenmount stud has been redeveloped into a fantastic facility which will cater for the surgical and medical needs of horses from all disciplines. A balance of the highest quality of care and affordability is at the core of our belief.

Donncha qualified from UCD, Dublin in 2001. He worked in a mixed practice in Kilkenny before linking up with John Hyde, Tower Equine Hospital, Glanmire, Co Cork. In the spring 2003 he became resident Vet at Scarvagh House Stud, Co. Down. He remained there until January 2009 when he started up his own practice at Dundalk Racecourse, Co. Louth where he was the residing vet.

Donncha spent two off seasons while at Scarvagh working in the Hunter Valley, Australia for Scone Equine Hospital and in Rudd and Riddle, Kentucky. Donncha spent 6 months with Ms Buffy Shirley Beavan, Summerhill Equine Veterinary Practice, Cheltenham.  He has a keen interest in lameness investigations, assisted reproduction and neo natal medicine.
